Subject: Red & White L160 (VAX 508)
Chassis: Bristol Lodekka FL6G
Body: ECW H37/33RD
Location: Pontypridd, Morgan Street
Date: c.Aug-1971

This bus was the first of twenty of these unusual thirty-foot long Lodekkas, the largest fleet of the type. Most of them were registered in the reversed AAX series, but the first two had VAX registrations. Behind is a Pontypridd Guy Arab IV.

On the left is now the bus station. The gable end that is prominent carries a faded Rhymney Ales sign and was previously an off licence. It is on the corner of Morgan Street and Bridge Street and was once the terminus of the Blackwood service (see that collection).

From an original slide in the David Beilby collection, photographer unknown.
