Subject: Pontypridd UDC 34 (FNY 578) Chassis: Guy Arab II 5LW Body: Park Royal UH30/26R Location: Pontypridd, Taff Street Date: 29-Jul-1944
The fully lined-out livery surprisingly made its way onto wartime deliveries. There are two variations from the earlier version of this livery. The fleet name now has “full stops” only between letters (so not after the letter C) and also spaced centrally between the letters rather than immediately after as a full stop would be.
The bus also has a silver or grey roof. This was probably introduced to make them less visible from the air and seems too have been perpetuated until roofs started to be painted blue, although on photographs it is sometimes difficult to be certain on this.
