Subject: Metrolink 3024
Location: Oldham Werneth
Date: 9-Jan-2012

The first tram to get this far up the line was 3024. Previous runs had been made just short of this point, but they were loco-hauled. This is as far as 3024 got on this day, just short of the old Werneth station. The Featherstall Road bridge is visible, as is the former Platts head office with its distinctive clock tower.

The famous 1 in 27 incline down to Middleton Junction once descended on the left, with the slightly less steep descent to Hollinwood once making a dog-leg to the right. Despite the closure of the line to Middleton Junction in 1963 it was only with the building of Metrolink that this dog-leg was removed.
