472 was one of the four PD2/4s bought from Bolton at the end of 1965, having previously been on hire. This was the last of the batch to run in crimson, the last survivor of all (471) was repainted into the pommard and cream livery.
Just visible at the right is the end of Radcliffe Street. This disappeared shortly afterwards, along with the two older buildings behind the bus, to make way for the new St. Mary's Way, which opened on 2nd July 1975.
