One of the more unusual buses in this gallery is XAU 69J, not quite what it seems as it is actually a Leyland Panther. New to Skill's of Nottingham as their 69 it had Plaxton Panorama Elite coachwork, latterly rebuilt with the front dash from a Supreme IV, but is here running for Border Coaches of Barnoldswick.

It is not possible to say with certainty which service it is operating, as I haven't a date for the photograph, but I do know it is at the Yelloway coach station in Oldham bound for Newcastle working for National Express. As it is a PSUR1B/2R variant fitted with an O680 engine a lively performance would be expected.

From an original slide in the David Beilby collection, photographer unknown.
