The rear end of 5139 shows the location of the fleet number, which is just visible above the engine cover and under the registration plate. Sister vehicle 144, heading towards Grotton, has yet to be renumbered although, oddly, the coat-of-arms has been painted out.
There's plenty of action in this view at Balfour Street, with the number of passengers alighting from 144 showing why this was Oldham's best revenue-earning route.
