This delightful view of Uppermill square dates from the early 'sixties and is full of period detail, such as the public conveniences sign at the left. At first glance one might dismiss the bus as a North Western vehicle on a local service but it is actually Northern General 1724 (FCN 724) working almost certainly an X97 to Newcastle.

1724 was a dual-purpose Willowbrook-bodied AEC Reliance new in 1956.
