In addition to the Old Ynysybwl service, additional short journeys were operated to "Berw Road". In this case the buses referred to the northern end of Berw Road, also referred to as Craig-yr-Hesg and it was operated as a way of supplementing the service on this short section of road and also provided somewhere as a destination for buses from the south of the town.

From about 1931 the Berw Road service was linked to Rhydyfelin, but following the abandonment of the trolleybuses a link was established from Cilfynydd to Rhydyfelin, so a new service was introduced from Berw Road to Treforest (John Street) (q.v.). This service started off on quite a frequent basis but it was soon realised that demand was quite low. From January 1963 the Berw Road journeys were linked instead to the Maes-y-coed service, but ceased from 16th February 1971.

Overlapping with this was the building of the estate at Glyncoch, which as a large development generated significant extra transport demand. Pontypridd agreed to operate a service to Glyncoch on the same mileage basis with Red & White and Rhondda as the joint service to Old Ynysybwl and as result the short service to Glyncoch became a joint service between the three operators. Rhondda numbered it 412 and Red & White gave it the number 191. In practice it appears that Pontypridd always worked Rhondda’s share of the service.

The service started operation on 1st March 1960 on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays only but by the end of the following year it had become a daily service on a thirty minute frequency. Originally operating to Garth Avenue it was extended to Coed-y-Lan from 8th September 1964 and finally extended towards the top of Cefn Lane to then loop round Garth Avenue in May 1970.

Following the changes of 1969 this service became worked entirely by Pontypridd/Taff-Ely from 5th October 1969 and remained so until deregulation when competing services were established. Just one example of the latter is shown in this gallery, which is of a National Welsh vehicle working the Y4 from Glyncoch across the town to Rhydyfelin.
