Subject: Ashton C. T. 52 (CTD 548) Chassis: Leyland TB6 Body: English Electric H30/26R Location: Preston, Dick, Kerr works Date: 1937
The offside of 52 before delivery. It ran in Ashton until Sep-1956.
Just visible on the roof, looking like part of a building behind 52, is a large radio interference suppression coil of a design favoured by Ashton (and a few other operators) at the time. Its size meant that a larger trolley gantry was required. Later suppression coils were shallower and thus when roof-mounted would not normally be visible.
