Subject: Newport C. T. 15 (TDW 315J)
Chassis: Leyland Atlantean PDR1A/1
Body: Alexander H43/31F
Location: Newport, Corporation Road
Date: 16-May-1981

15 heads out of town, despite the destination, but will in fact be returning to the depot which is behind the photographer. 15 was to become Taff-Ely 85 and will have been working the 6 service which ran (and still runs) to Alway.

Whilst Corporation Road can still boast a good number of mature trees, sadly the splendid Auracarian Pine (also known as a monkey puzzle tree) in the garden to the right has not survived.

That house was the office of W H Diaper, a small Newport coach operator who sold out to Capitol of Cwmbran. His grandson Paul later set up a business (which may well be the one being advertised here) which was ultimately sold to Islwyn Borough Transport.

Three Welsh municipals for one one photograph!
