Oldham 35 (BU 8262)

Vehicle: Oldham 35 (BU 8262)
Location: Albion Square, Chepstow
Date: c1941

The whole of the 30-35 batch were sent on loan to Red & White in July 1940. 30 and 31 stayed there until 1945 but the rest returned in May 1942, possibly going direct to Lancashire United. In 35’s case it was to remain there until October 1945 when it returned to Oldham. Withdrawn in July 1947 it was then rebodied with an Alexander lowbridge body and worked with Greenock Motor Services and Western SMT - one of the batch can be seen thus in the “Buses after sale” section of the gallery.

The bus on the left is one of Red & White’s Albion Valkyries of the 360-389 batch, registered CAX 360-389. Rather surprisingly, whilst this bus is in a wartime grey livery, the Oldham bus has received full Red & White livery.
