Subject: London Transport ST949 (GK 1025)
Chassis: AEC Regent 661
Body: Tilling or Dodson H27/25RO
Location: Upper Boat, Cardiff Road
Date: c.1944

No less than eight London ST-type vehicles were loaned to Pontypridd during the war. Six were former Tilling vehicles which had this distinctive front end with three windows.

This bus was given fleet number P3 although four later arrivals were not given Pontypridd numbers. It had previously been on loan to Merthyr Tydfil and Bryn Motors of Pontllanfraith.

All of these loaned vehicles were in a pretty poor state by the time they returned to London (as indeed were those that remained in the capital) and they were only patched up until they could be replaced. This one returned to London in November 1945 and was scrapped just under two years later.

This bus may be working the Upper Boat service which I believe terminated at this junction.
