Wartime photographs are always scarce and it was probably quite risky taking one such as this with a serviceman in uniform in the picture. 18 looks to be in fine fettle in despite wartime conditions which led to it having the headlamp masks and white painted mudguards and lifeguard rails that were compulsory for most of World War II.

Adverts for Tevna Tea and other products from Thomas and Evans were common on Pontypridd buses. The company was founded in 1885 in Porth and later opened a store in Pontypridd. They became much more widely known for their ‘Corona’ brand soft drinks.
