This is a rather interesting view of 59 leaving Pontypridd for Porth. Despite all the traffic changes and new roads in the locality, the view here is relatively unchanged as almost everything visible is still standing. This part of the road is now one way in the opposite direction.
It’s up in the sky where the most interesting bit of infrastructure is to be found. Despite appearances, trolleybuses never ran along here. The overhead wires, which are probably the former tramway overhead line, abandoned in August 1931, were used to provide a power supply to Pwllgwaun Colliery. This colliery closed in August 1948.
