Operator: Rotherham C. T. Fleet No: 44 Registration No: FET 618 Chassis: Daimler CTE6 Chassis No: 15885 Body: Roe H40/30R (1957) originally East Lancs B38C New: 1950 Withdrawn: 1963 Location: Manchester, Stevenson Square Date: 31-Dec-1966
Additional information: At the start of the day Rotherham 44 loaded up with passengers in Stevenson Square. This section of wiring didn't serve the 215/216 stand, which was the other side of the shelter. It seems to have been added for the 31, later 211 service to Moston which started here until replaced by the 80 motorbus from 8-Aug-1955.
The bus behind is on an 80 working to Middleton, a result of the combination of the 80 with the 54 service. 80x journeys to Middleton ran regularly on Saturdays although for some reason they don't appear in the timetable that is contemporary to this photograph.
