The Dunedin and Roslyn Tramway Company line along Rattray Street opened on 11-Nov-1885 and was gradually extended. It was replaced on 26-Oct-1951.
The Metropolitan-Vickers publicity (unsurprisingly) makes a favourable comparison of the performance of trolleybuses on Rattray Street compared with the cable cars, but conveniently omits to mention that neither buses or trolleybuses were able to follow the upper part of the cable tramway which had a gradient of almost 1 in 4.
The nets on the front make identification of the car almost impossible, but it has a '9' in the number. It is on a short working to Highgate - Roslyn being the extremity of the line.
