Subject: Ken Shaw RWW 122L
Chassis: Leyland Leopard PSU3B/4R
Body: Plaxton Panorama Elite C51F
Location: Wembley, Empire Way
Date: 10-May-1973

With the former Empire Pool behind (by then without water and used as a concert arena), Ken Shaw’s Leopard in Dene Coaches livery has just left after the Rugby League Cup Final where Featherstone Rovers beat Bradford Northern 33-14.

Wembley trips were a way of life at this time, with pubs and other venues all organising a trip every year, regardless of who was playing, something that probably contributed to a healthier atmosphere at the match with a crowd that was largely non-partisan. These trips were a feature not just of Saddleworth, but of large parts of the North of England.

Whilst I would expect that Ken Shaw’s could operate under their own licence, it may be on hire to another operator. It isn’t possible to make out what the sticker in the windscreen says.
