Subject: West Riding 268 (GHD 415G)
Chassis: Leyland Leopard PSU3A/4RT
Body: Alexander C45F
Location: Hollinwood, Manchester Road
Date: early 1970s

This coach had three owners in its first three years and it’s difficult to be sure which it is with at the time of this picture. This isn’t helped by the fact that it changed owners (at least approximately) at the same time as the operation of this service made the same changes.

It was new as Yorkshire Woollen 415 in 1969 and then became Hebble 415 in 1970. In 1971 it became West Riding 268. This photograph may be taken before then as it received a fleet number below the windscreen with West Riding.

Former Manchester PD2 3699 is waiting departure time outside the old Oldham Corporation tram depot. Many of the businesses around here would have relied on Ferranti employees for their trade, with the exception of Housing Units to the left of the coach, still flourishing today.

From an original negative in the David Beilby collection, photographer unknown.
