I'd forgotten until scanning this slide just how bad First had let standards drop at Oldham, typified in this shot of two buses, neither of which is able to display more information than a route number. Happily standards are now much improved. It hardly helped endear us to these imported vehicles. Taken on 16th April 2003, 30337 in front is a Metrobus which came from Ensign whilst behind is former Leicester Optare Prisma 61247. This photo also illustrates the rather inefficient service pattern which existed before the major revision of 2004, resulting in two buses following one another. Whilst bunching still does occur, at least the current timetable provides a regular interval service on this road.
