Subject: Oldham C. T. 149 (LBU 149E)
Chassis: Leyland Atlantean PDR1/1
Body: Neepsend H43/34F
Location: Oldham, Mumps
Date: c.1968

Very early days in the construction of the roundabout at Mumps. Contractors’ signs are visible in the background but not much work has taken place apart from building demolition. In the right background can be seen Mumps No. 3 signal box, which was demolished in advance of the new bridge being but in place around Christmas 1968.

It is likely that 149 has just left the garage but come out via Wallshaw Place as the right turn would be easier than at the end of Wallshaw Street as it was controlled by the traffic lights at the junction.

From a photograph in the David Beilby collection, photographer unknown.
