This unusual shot on Union Street in Oldham shows North Western 152 in National Express white livery heading for Whitby on X15. I don't think that destination was on the blinds of this coach as North Western didn't run there when it was new.

The photograph was taken in 1973 when coach services were the only ones still using the former North Western bus station on Clegg Street, a situation that only applied for the 1973 season for these services.

To the left of the coach is the Waterloo pub and above it is the ABC cinema, which closed (although it was to reopen for a short while in 1985/6) on 1st October 1977. Originally the Palladium it was bought by ABC, modernised and re-opened on 23rd February 1959.

From an original slide in the David Beilby collection, photographer unknown.
