Subject: Caerphilly UDC 42 (HTX 442) and Rhondda 256 (JTG 947) Chassis: Guy Arab III 6LW and AEC Regent III 9612E Body: Willowbrook L27/28R and Weymann H30/26R Location: Pontypridd, Sardis Road Date: mid-1950s
The service to Caerphilly from Pontypridd once started in Sardis Road and as a consequence although Caerphilly operated two services into Pontypridd they never met in that town.
Caerphilly’s Willowbrook-bodied Guy 42 is leaving for its home town and passing Rhondda Regent 256. This was from the last batch of preselector gearbox Regents bought by Rhondda and also their last batch of double-deckers before they adopted the new legal width of eight feet.
Just visible behind is one of Western Welsh’s Willowbrook-bodied Crossley SD42/7s.
