Pontypridd and Taff-Ely buses travelled further than the compact route network would indicate. They were often hired by clubs and the like for trips, more often than not to the usual favourites of Barry and, less frequently, Porthcawl but they also made their way to other places.

For some years Taff-Ely provided transport to support the Military Tattoo in Cardiff and this could be quite an extensive operation. It had the advantage of taking place in the school summer holidays and as a consequence plenty of vehicles were available. Vehicles were even stabled at Cardiff’s Sloper Road garage.

Taff-Ely were supporters of the Cardiff Bus Rally and would send a bus down to the event most years.
