This service was introduced with revised timetables from 29th January 2006, but as it didn't operate on a Sunday the first workings were on the 30th. The 183 replaced the short workings on the 184 operated by First between Grotton and Hollinwood, mainly to limit how much traffic Stott's buses creamed off with their 427. The 183, like the 427, only ran during the day to make use of buses between peak hour and schools workings.
After operation on Friday 28th March 2008 the service was curtailed to operate between Oldham and Limeside only and thus no longer comes into the scope of this gallery (although at least initially it was worked by buses arriving in Oldham on the 350).
The 183 was always worked by First Manchester.
