SS054

A much earlier view from the 14 gallery shows the earlier concrete shelter at Stop B, which at the time didn't have a bus stop flag. Generally it seemed there was a shelter or flag, but not both!

Across the road is an exception. This was an odd stop and doesn't exist today as it closed around 1974, although in more recent years it has been replaced by a stop nearer Uppermill. As well as a shelter it also has cast aluminium stop signs for Mossley Brookbottom (the 157 and 158 at the time) and it was also an alighting stop only for the 14 and 153. Which does beg the question as to why a shelter was considered necessary!

I recall seeing these cast signs on the back of the AEC Matador in Oldham garage after removal and it is to my eternal regret that I didn't try to acquire them.
