Subject: Bradford C.T. 653 (CAK 653)
Chassis: AEC 661T
Body: English Electric H30/26R
Location: Bowling, Wakefield Road
Date: 6-Aug-1938

653 skidded on very wet road setts after a thunder storm and overturned in Wakefield Road. It is seen following the incident which occurred at the end of Rhine Street which (just about) still exists. Bowling depot entrance was almost behind the photographer. The use of a trolley gantry as a coat hanger is probably unique. Enjoy the other period details!

653 had been in service less than a month and was returned to English Electric at Preston for repair and delivered to Thornbury a second time on 28 November 1938. As can be seen elsewhere in the gallery, it went on to give good service to Bradford.
