Also at the King Bill on 9th October 1982 is one of the two original Dennis Dominators. This one (1438) was fitted with a Maxwell gearbox and gave a good snorting performance is it proceeded through the village - one of the characteristics of the Maxwell gearbox. The bus stop at this time was in a rather hazardous place (the previous photo shows that there was little protection for the pedestrian). It has since been moved to a safe refuge a short distance towards the Clarence. You can just make out the marks on the wall where the North Western timetable case used to be.
