Dennis Dominator 1439 (which has been seen in an earlier, more distant shot) plods up the second half of the climb on 3rd September 1982. The small orange sign on the lamp to the right of the bus is a route marker for the 355. Tameside depot put these up for most of their routes, although as far as I am aware they never actually worked the 355.
