The 41 is one of the group of short services which start at Schottentor, in this case the route is about 5.2km long.

For some time, including the period when many of the photos were taken, it was worked by only one type of tram, the E2 hauling a c5 trailer. However, from 7th September 2009 B class ULF cars were introduced and more recently examples of the B1 class have also appeared.

Like the 40, despite its short length, it is worked by two depots with some vehicles provided by Währinger Gürtel depot but a larger number by Hernals depot.
