The junction of Waterloo Street and Union Street was closed for a significant period for Metrolink works and there were several variants of the diversion associated with this. 40422 has come down Rhodes Bank (the erstwhile Gas Street) and just crossed Waterloo Street to go up Southgate Street to get back to Union Street. In earlier years Southgate Street was used by inbound buses coming from Glodwick along Waterloo Street.

Despite the rainbow above it, there was apparently no pot of gold to be found on 40422!
