8 continues the climb up Duffryn Road and is about to cross the formation of the former Pontypridd, Caerphilly and Newport Railway. There was a halt on the left here which opened on 14-May-1928, replacing the original one which was a little closer to Pontypridd. It closed on 8-Jun-1953.
