5935 on the lower part of the hill, which is the beginning of Chew Valley Road, on 1st September 1972. The shop on the corner has had a turbulent time, as can be seen from the photos in this gallery. It had closed in the late 1960s but was once owned by a Mr. Hopkinson. The building is notable for its datestone and the unusual stone gargoyles (or similar). The one on the right hand side of the building disappeared in the late 1970s but the others survive.
