A vintage coloured postcard of Union Street showing the original arrangement with central traction poles. Elegant, but they proved less than satisfactory with the development of motor traffic and were replaced. On the extreme right is the Salvation Army Citadel, closed in 1968. Pheonix House now stands on the site.
