Bristol C2710 (HAE 21) Bristol Prince Street BVBG

Subject: Bristol O. C. C2710 (HAE 21)
Chassis: Bristol L5G
Body: BBW B32D
Location: Bristol, Prince Street
Date: early 1950s

Bristol C2710 was to become Pontypridd 67 and unlike the two others from the batch that worked for Pontypridd it remained in largely original condition. It had the original front door, blind box and floating cab. From the offside it would have been almost identical to Pontypridd’s own 16 (ETX 322) which was a contemporary.

The low angle of this shot emphasises the high radiator fitted to Bristols of this era. It’s clear Bristol had difficulty using the front blinds as originally designed and therefore not surprising that they ended up rebuilding them.

Much of Prince Street has changed since this photograph but I believe the building to the right of the bus still exists, although its original steel-framed windows have now been replaced.
