Subject: Pontypridd UDC 37 (FNY 663) Chassis: Guy Arab II 5LW Body: Park Royal UH30/26R Location: Pontypridd, Taff Street Date: 1-Jul-1959
Looking immaculate despite the damp weather, 37 has probably just been repainted, probably for the last time before it had rubber-mounted windows fitted. It is recorded as being rebuilt by 1956 but can be seen here to be in almost original condition in 1960.
The white fleet number is unusual and may have just been a short-term expedient, or a trial. Just a handful of buses got them and for some of the others there was a specific reason why standard numbers couldn’t be used, which is not the case here.
The conductor is stood at the rear watching out as the driver reverses onto the stand. Someone is rather proud of their Ford Anglia Deluxe (I believe that’s what it is) but have put it rather at risk from this regular bus manoeuvre.
