Jay Bee's SMB 880 was a Plaxton-bodied Seddon Mark 11R, a relatively unusual beast. It was one of a pair of which SMB 881 was new to R. Bullock of Cheadle in 1954, but sold by them to Fieldsend's of Salford in 1956. However, SMB 880 was new to Lofthouse of Mickle Trafford. Sold to Kinsey, Tattenhall in 1966 strangely it also ended up with Bullock in 1969.

After that It passed through several owners, including a jazz band, before ending up with Jay Bee. By this time it was already twenty years old. At least chassis spares would be accessible as the Seddon factory was in Oldham!

SMB 880 is seen on High Street in Oldham.

From an original slide in the David Beilby collection, photographer unknown.
