Subject: Demolition of railway bridge
Location: Oldham Mumps
Date: 27-Aug-2010
Mumps bridge seen from Brook Street immediately prior to demolition, with the area on which the crane was to be located already cleared in readiness. In the distance can be seen a short section of blue brick wall with the causeway wall widening at that point. This was the site of Mumps No. 3 signal box, the widened structure acting as a base for the box itself, whereas the blue brick filled the gap in the wall left by the removal of the box.
The small blue brick section of wall at the top left would appear to relate to construction of a signal gantry at that location spanning the lines, which was probably associated with the closure of the signal box referred to above, removal of the Up goods loop and also the bracket signal.
