The light is starting to fail as 80 passes through the Trading Estate on a run to Caerphilly. The remarkably-original factory unit to the left still survives, although mainly hidden by trees now from Main Avenue, whilst the building on the right was the telephone exchange and at the time would have been full of the whirrs and clicks of the Strowger relays. Behind all that were then the sidings for Nantgarw Colliery, but the colliery and its sidings have now been completely re-developed.
