Subject: Rhymney Valley DC 70 (STX 217G)
Chassis: Leyland Leopard PSU3A/2R
Body: Massey B51F
Location: Pontypridd, Taff Street
Date: 12-Jul-1982

70 is crossing the very last part of the Rhondda river here before it joins the river Taff, although with buildings either side it's hard to see.

In March 1974 it was rebuilt from its original dual-door B51D layout to a single-door arrangement and it is possible in this view to see where the exit was as the window was converted to an emergency exit. I suspect this resulted from a change in legislation since it had been built, with the 'grandfather rights' it previously had not being allowed to carry across as it was being rebuilt. At the same time it received the new Rhymney Valley livery, just before the actual formation of the new council.
