Subject: Manchester C.T. 1308 (GNA 456) Chassis: Daimler COG5 Body: English Electric H28/26R Location: Preston, Abingdon Drive Date: 1940
This rear view captures a lot of detail not often recorded and shows the full blind display as fitted to the streamliners pre-war. Post-war vehicles just had a destination on the nearside and a number at the back.
Above the letter 'N' in the word Manchester at the rear is a small bracket which was used for mounting postboxes. These were carried on certain advertised journeys and it was possible to post a letter en route, the box then being collected by a Post Office employee in the city centre.
