Subject: Manchester C.T. 1305 (GNA 453) Chassis: Daimler COG5 Body: English Electric H28/26R Location: Preston, Dick, Kerr works Date: 1940
The upper saloon (or Top Saloon as Manchester referred to it) of 1305. The monogrammed strike plates were a Manchester feature and an almost identical version, without the MCTD lettering, was used on postwar Crossley bodies for other operators.
To reduce weight as the COG5 chassis was heavier than the contemporary Leyland and Crossley chassis, these Daimlers had single skin upper deck ceilings.
