Pontypridd and Caerphilly Urban District Councils operated a service between the two towns which is described here.

The period following deregulation saw many changes in the service and will be covered in the future, following which a gallery covering the whole history of the service will be created. Until then, this story starts from the formation of Rhondda Buses.

The C19 service kept to the main roads and the main difference from the service operated by the Councils was the higher frequency.

Initially the service seems to have been operated primarily from Porth with three buses per hour. However by 5th July 1993 a new timetable was in operation which unusually co-ordinated the operations of Shamrock, Caerphilly Busways and Rhondda Buses, co-ordination normally being then seen as against the spirit of competition. The one bus per hour was provided by Shamrock and Rhondda Buses with another two by Caerphilly Busways.

The service then remained largely unchanged except that by 29-Jul-1996 Caerphilly Busways had also taken over the Rhondda Buses working.
