This is a Saturday view of a service that ran for a few Wednesdays and Saturdays in the period leading up to Christmas 1983. It is not clear how long the service ran and it may not have been repeated in later years. However, Rhymney Valley 26 (RTG 26R) was hired in late 1978 and used on a similar service commencing 1st November, running on Wednesdays and Saturdays until 23rd December.

It was a shuttle service between Sardis Road Car Park and Taff Street, with the objective of encouraging car owners to go direct to Sardis Road rather than increase congestion in the town by searching for available car parking spaces in the more central car parks.

The bus did a circuit of the car park picking up at a temporary stop near the steps at the railway station end and tended to get caught, as seen here, in the queue of incoming cars looking for spaces.

It is likely that this was a free service and a special destination board is carried in the windscreen.
