5298 was a former Oldham Corporation bus which has had a white panel added to its lower panels so that the SELNEC flash could be applied and visible. A few years before this picture was taken this view would not have been possible as there was a large goods shed adjacent to the platform and you can still see the rail entrance at this end. The following year the rest of the station was demolished and it was rebuilt to the form shown on the previous picture. This view is again not possible, but this time due to trees which have grown uncontrolled on the site of the goods shed. Greenfield station - 6th January 1973.
