Subject: Bradford C.T. 666 (CAK 666)
Chassis: AEC 661T
Body: East Lancs H35/28R
Location: Laisterdyke, Leeds Road
Date: early-1960s

666 has just left Thornbury depot and is photographed at Laisterdyke turning onto Killinghall Lane which it will use to get to Bolton, where it will pick up service on the 40 to Saltaire, the blinds already being set.

The frog is set back some distance from the junction. I believe this will have been a manual frog and this arrangement allows the trolleybus to stop sufficiently clear of the junction to allow the conductor to operate it, then for the bus to pull out to the crown of the road ready to turn right.

I don't have a date for this photograph and therefore cannot say whether the wires crossing Leeds Road here are still being used for the 34 service or just for access to the Wakefield Road routes.

Appropriately, 666 was withdrawn at the end of 1966, so didn't quite see the end of the Wakefield Road trolleybuses.
