By contrast 299 of the earlier batch, stood at the same spot, shows its more austere styling. This bus later received the body off Southport Crossley 117. As it was only a short-term measure until the delivery of more single-deckers it was not fully repainted, just the lower panels were repainted in crimson. The crimson and cream livery it carried was unique in the Oldham fleet.
