Subject: Caerphilly UDC 9 (UTX 9)
Chassis: Leyland Royal Tiger PSU1/13
Body: Massey B44F
Location: Caerphilly, Bartlett Street
Date: 6-Jun-1967

Although entering service in 1956, and therefore one of the very last Royal Tigers to do so, the date belies the origins of this vehicle. The chassis was actually built in 1951 but retained by Leyland until it was refurbished and fitted with this Massey body for Caerphilly.

Its ultimate demise was just as unusual - it was sold to Gelligaer UDC along with 8 (OTG 518), for which it was used to provide spares. It was then sold to Way, dealer, in Cardiff who sold it on to Tudor Williams, Pioneer, Laugharne who then proceeded to run it for several years.

This was the last bus delivered to Caerphilly featuring the cream waistband. It has been fitted with trafficators which it did not have when new and has also lost the nearside windscreen wiper, which was presumably of little use to the driver anyway.
