SHMD owned a Thornycroft tower wagon which was a 1950 Sturdy model registered MMA 404. This passed into preservation and is seen here at the Corssley Omnibus Society-Transiclub premises in Greenfield in early 1972. It subsequently moved to the Tameside Transport Collection and in more recent years has been restored in the earlier dark green and cream livery.

It is parked next to a pre-war United Co-operative Dairies milk float which was secured for preservation but unfortunately didn't survive. The building above the tower wagon was once Friezland station on the Micklehurst loop line from Stalybridge to Diggle. This closed to passengers in 1917 with the railway closing completely in 1966.
