On 3rd July 1965 Oldham Tiger Cub 113 is on Union Street and almost at the terminus. Behind is the Oldham Library, opened in 1883 following much debate about expenditure which in true local authority tradition ended up considerably above budget. It was one of the few notable buildings in the town and has recently been replaced by the combined Gallery Oldham and Library which is itself another impressive facility. On the left is another well-loved Oldham landmark, the ABC cinema (originally the Palladium) which closed in 1977 and was demolished in 1990.
