3, later registered AJ 5859, is posed on South Bank Road (as it was then) just alongside the depot with the imposing office building (itself only recently completed) of the Cargo Fleet Iron Works prominent in the background.

The photograph is likely to have been taken prior to the opening ceremony of the system. Note the third trolleybus parked on the wrong side of the road which would not have been practical if the service was in operation. It is one of a series shown in this gallery taken by William Haig Parry (1883-1968), a prominent Teesside photographer.
